Command & Conquer for iPhone video preview

EA showed off its real-time strategy game Command & Conquer Red Alert this week at a pre-Xmas gaming event.

It’s a 3D top-down game, where you can zoom in and out of the battleground freely with the usual ‘pinch’ gesture. You can check out the game in action below.

We were particularly impressed with quite how slick the game looks. It was running on an iPod touch – we’re not exactly sure which generation – but each movement was silky smooth.

There have only been a handful of real-time strategy games of this type released on iPhone as yet and, from having seen Command & Conquer Red Alert in the flesh, this game is set to take the top spot. Just like the PC version, you can build up your base, group your units into different squadrons and play skirmish battles alongside the main campaign.

Command & Conquer Red Alert is due for release within the next couple of weeks, so keep those eyes peeled if you’re a fan.
