Asphalt 5 has more pace than its predecessors - check out Gameloft's video trailer of this iPhone racer for proof

Gameloft has released a tasty trailer for its upcoming iPhone racer Asphalt 5.

The video, which you can check out below, shows off the customisation features of the game and demonstrates that it’s a whole lot faster than either of its Gameloft racer ancestors, Asphalt 4 and Ferrari GT: Evolution.

Asphalt 5 clearly owes a lot to the popular Burnout series of console racers, which has in recent years become perhaps the most critically acclaimed set of shamelessly arcade racers out there. As such, it looks to push the racing envelope even further than Need for Speed Undercover, currently our top iPhone arcade racing game of this type.

Still, EA Mobile is due to hit back with Need for Speed Shift soon, continuing the war between these two big App Store hitters.
