Revolution Pocket has revealed that it’s considering bringing a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky to the iPhone.
In an interview with Pocket Gamer’s Chris James, Charles Cecil and Dave Gibbons – the folks behind the classic 1994 adventure – revealed that early work on Beneath a Steel Sky 2 has already begun. Of course, that in no way guarantees the plug won’t be pulled at any point.
As Cecil says, "Well the drawing board is full of ideas right now, some of those include Beneath A Steal Sky 2 and some don't. There's certainly more that could be done with those characters."
We think that whether serious progression is made with Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will depend on the success of the iPhone version of the original Beneath a Steel Sky, coming to the App Store this Friday.
The curious thing is that Beneath a Steel Sky has actually been available for free to PC gamers for quit some time now – legally as well - demonstrating that the iPhone has opened up genuinely new revenue streams for publishers. Here’s hoping that Beneath a Steel Sky makes the grade commercially.
