Assassin's Creed II video preview

Ubisoft showed off its iPhone game Assassin's Creed II recently, revealing that it's a side-scroller

Assassin’s Creed II is heading to the iPhone, and we’ve gotten hold of a video preview of the game that demonstrates that it’s a side-scrolling platformer rendered in 3D.

Unlike the previous iPhone Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed II is being made by Ubisoft instead of mobile and iPhone specialist Gameloft. This is pretty evident in the video preview captured by Touch Arcade, since a quick look at it shows it’s lacking Gameloft’s characteristic ambition. Where its predecessor was a full 3D roamer, Assassin’s Creed II is effectively a two-dimensional game – even if it does have 3D visuals.

Still, that doesn’t mean it won’t be a fantastic game that’s worthy of the console series, and it shows that even the very biggest publishers are taking the iPhone seriously as a gaming platform these days.

Assassin’s Creed II is due out in November, and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we get any more details on the game. For now though, check out Touch Arcade’s video preview below.
