Gameloft's next sport game will be Real Football Manager 2010, coming out for mobiles soon

Published on Sep 9, 2009

Gameloft is to bring a new 2010 edition of its popular Real Football Manager series to mobile.

It’ll feature more than 4000 real life players, each with their own stats. The game’s got a FIFpro license that allows it to use real names rather than sketch approximations that we’ve seen all too often on mobile. Daviid Beckingham anyone? Thought not.

Being a management game rather than a more direct sport sim, you’ll take care of the team’s progress through 13 different leagues – hopefully skywards rather than heading towards football failure. Training and transfers are both included, and you can watch the actual matches unfold too rather than just hearing about the result.

Project Next published screenshots of the game, which you can see here, showing in spite of the lack of any 3D wizardry, it’s a bit of a looker, with clear menus and enough sprites to add a little moisture to the otherwise dry pages of figures and player strategies.

The last instalment of the series, Real Football Manager 2009, was one of the most acclaimed titles of its genre, so we fully expect a similar performance from Gameloft’s next attempt, which we expect will be available within the next month.
