Rockstar is to bring an official installment of the Grand Theft Auto series to iPhone, in the shape of Chinatown Wars

Rockstar is to bring us an iPhone version of the open world Nintendo DS driving game Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars to the iPhone.

The latest instalment of the popular console series is also coming to the Sony PSP, meaning that all the major handhelds are getting a slice of the action.

You play as Huang Lee, a young gangster who finds himself in deep water after finding his way to liberty city.

With the PSP version taking after the original DS version, with a top-down perspective, we expect that the iPhone will look and feel a lot like its cousins.

Of course, the iPhone version will most likely be a lot cheaper.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is due for release later this year. The question is, how will it stack up against Gameloft’s recent GTA-a-like Gangstar: West Coast Hustle?
