Earthworm Jim for iPhone screenshots

The news that Gameloft is resurrecting Earthworm Jim got us a little excited, and now screenshots of the game have been released, confirming the project.

From the screenshots, it looks as if the visuals have been improved slightly from the 1994 original – there may be some clever filtering going on to make Jim look a little sharper than he otherwise would on the iPhone’s relatively high-resolution screen.

You’ll control Jim using a D-pad operated with your left thumb, while shooting and jumping with likely be done with right-thumb button presses. This method has caused its own share of issues in quite a few iPhone platformers, but Gameloft manage to nail it with Castle of Magic, so we’ve got faith in the publisher’s ability to do justice to this classic 90s series.
