iPhone 3.0 update could change game buying

The iPhone 3.0 update could limit the ways in which you can re-install games you've previously bought

A precursor to the upcoming 3.0 iPhone software update, the iTunes 8.2 update suggests that changes to the way we buy our iPhone games could be on the way.

Pocketgamer reported that when you try to re-download previously-purchased games with the 3.0 firmware, you’ll only be able to do so by downloading to your PC and synchronising rather than downloading on the fly directly with your iPhone.

This is apparently a measure to try to stop users from getting installing software, purchased just once, on multiple devices. While we can understand that Apple wants to clamp down on piracy as much as they can with the iPhone, this is a bit of a downer for legitimate gamers who have simply bought more games than their iPhone’s home screen can handle.
