Top 10 Sega Mega Drive games we want on iPhone

Sonic the Hedgehog has proved it can be done, so here are the Top 10 Sega Mega Drive games we'd most like to see on the iPhone

The release of Sonic the Hedgehog, which is apparently a full Mega Drive emulator simply packaged up with the original Sonic game file, has got our imaginations fired up. If that game can run just fine on the iPhone, if with a few slowdowns, why can't we get all sorts of Mega Drive games running on our new favourite gaming device?
Of course, reality dictates that there would be all sorts of issues with rights that would pretty much assure than hardly any of them would actually make it to the App Store, but we can dream. Here are the 10 Sega Mega Drive games we'd like to see most on the iPhone. What do you think?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sure, we've already got the first Sonic game, but our love for Sonic hasn't been sated yet. The second game features Tails, the twin-tailed fox that can fly through the air for even longer than Sonic himself. Thankfully, this is one game we might actually get to see in time on the iPhone. Hurray!
Shinobi II
No games platform is complete without ninjas, and Shinobi provides just about the best ninja fun you can have on a Mega Drive. It's an action-packed side-scrolling game with more shuriken-throwing antics than you can, well, shake a shuriken at.
Ristar
Ristar may not have sold incredible numbers, but it's one of the Mega Drive's best games. A colourful platformer, you play as a shooting star that has to save planets that have been brainwashed by the Evil Greedy. So, the story may be nonsense, but the years it spent in development show, pushing Ristar high up our most wanted list.
Zombies Ate My Neighbours
Okay, so we're cheating a little with Zombies Ate My Neighbours as it was also released on the Super Nintendo, but it's a game that's would be well worth a play on the iPhone. The zombie apocalypse has come, and you have to run around saving your neighbours while avoiding getting turned into a lurching, living corpse yourself.
Road Rash
Even if you can't remember many of the games on this list, you've probably heard of Road Rash. Sadly, the Mega Drive version hasn't aged particularly well, but we'd still be keen to test-drive over a few laps on the iPhone. A violence-tinged racer, you ride a motorcycle and can punch rival racers off their bikes. Good, clean fun then.
Streets of Rage II
The Streets of Rage games offered some of the best beat ‘em up gaming you could find in the 90s. Rather than using a one-on-one fighting style, you're up against a whole gang of street thugs in Streets of Rage. We'd be happy to see any of the three games in the series on the iPhone, but the second one is generally considered to be the its peak.
Comix Zone
One of the most stylish 16-bit games produced, Comic Zone is platforming beat ‘em up set within a comic. You actually jump straight through the block borders of the comic panels, from scene to scene. Each one is beautifully hand drawn, meaning that Comic Zone doesn't even look too bad these days, and could look great on the iPhone's screen.
Gunstar Heroes
This run-and-gun classic deals in pure action. The screen's generally full of gunfire, while the gameplay reverts between traditional platforming to pure arcade shooting. Generally considered to be the definitive game of its type, the frantically energetic Gunstar Heroes still stands up well today.
Castlevania: Bloodlines
The iPhone can only exist so long before we see a Castlevania game released for it. Even standard mobile phones have had a multiple Castlevania games over the past few years. An RPG action game without the beards and over-the-top geekery, Bloodlines would be a boon for the App Store, sure to attract thousands of iPhone gamers into its clutches.
Sparkster
Sparkster is another game that was also released for the Super Nintendo, but it still makes it onto our list as we think it's one Mega Drive game that would still look great on the iPhone's screen. A Sonic-style platformer, it's quick, colourful and full of huge boss characters.
