A sci-fi apocalypse epic that was originally released on YouTube as a series of CGI episodes has been made into a mobile game by Glu mobile.
The video series has garnered millions of YouTube hits and has a sustained cult following on the web. As the blurb to the show goes, 99.9% of the world’s population is missing and technology is dead. It’s a bleak enough pitch for a thoughtful, window gazing epic, so it’s certainly good enough for a mobile adventure game.
Afterworld on mobile is a top-down puzzle adventure game where you wander around, trying to find out exactly what’s become of the world. It’s not all shoe-gazing guff though as you get to wield weapons and do some damage in traditional gaming fashion. Although Afterworld’s basic visuals do look a little dated, the ambitious concept alone offers enough to get us interested.
You can get Afterworld from Mobile Games Unlimited, and it’s also currently available directly from some UK carriers.
