Creators of Aurora Feint games, Danielle Cassley and Jason Citron have launched a social networking platform for games developers.
Aurora Feint games represent some of the best freebie puzzling you can have on your iPhone, but the makers seem to be changing tact, having just started a private beta of OpenFeint, as reported by Offworld.
OpenFeint is a platform, currently in private beta stage, designed to allow small iPhone developers to incorporate online social features into their games. These include friends lists, chat, Facebook-style message walls and profiles with image avatars.
The benevolent chaps at 'Feint are even keeping its use free, although this will be a limited time offer. Exactly how long it'll stay free remains unspecified.
Considering the ease of connecting to the web with an iPhone or iPod Touch, a proliferation of online features seems a good idea, although Feint isn't the only ones trying to capture this end of the developer services spectrum.
Onyx Online, a similar proposition from similarly early adopters of the iPhone (It comes from the makers of the huge-selling Trism), seems its fiercest rival. It's not quite turning into a Betamax vs VHS style face-off as yet, but as more developers look towards an easy solution to incorporating connected functionality, things could well intensify.
