Glu Mobile has confirmed that as much as 40 per cent of its output is now focused on developing smartphone titles
Published on Feb 11, 2009
Glu has admitted that between 30-40% of its new games will be developed for smartphones.
It is a trend that is becoming increasingly common within the industry, as developers look to maximise the impact of users switching to the likes of Apple’s iPhone.
Glu’s CEO, Greg Ballard announced the emphasis shift at their fourth quarter announcement.
The mobile giant has recently undergone a financial overhaul as they look to stay ahead of the ever-changing mobile technology market.
Glu’s revenue was up 19% year-on-year but the company’s net loss was £37.8 million in total last year.
The company has predicted further revenue losses next year but the influx of titles on the likes of N-Gage and Android may just change that.
Expect new versions of Glu titles such as Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Who Wants to be a Millionaire, as well as movie tie-ins like Inkheart for your smartphone.
