It's time to lock and load, soldier: Infernum has just announced the closed beta for Brick Force will begin on February 28, 2012.
This means you can be shooting friends, family and random people from around the world in deathmatch arenas clearly inspired by the magnificent Minecraft.
In fact, the blocky inspiration is a little more than skin deep for Brick Force because a big focus of the game - besides shooting everyone (in a friendly way, of course) - is the ability to build levels. Imagine if the Call of Duty series and Lego had a child; you're pretty close to what Brick Force looks to be about.
Though we've yet to take the game for a spin, Brick Force looks truly engaging, and the video hints at a number of game modes, including the mighty Capture the Flag scenario. It also seems as if there are enough explosions and firearms to keep even John McClane happy.
The biggest allure for us, though, is the ability to create a map and watch the havoc unfold. If Infernum can get the shooter mechanics right, it could be a dream come true for anyone who wanted Minecraft to have a little more sting.
Brick Force is playable from a browser as well as your Android or iOS device, which means you can play from your phone or computer when the closed beta begins on February 28.
If you head on over now to register, you actually get a free helmet to use when the closed and open beta testing begins.
Infernum expects Brick Force to be released in the spring as a free download. It's highly likely in-game items will generate the developer revenue, freemium-style.
