Grand Theft Auto III will be coming to the smaller screen in December, according to its creator, Rockstar North.
Rockstar Games has announced December 15 as the release date for Android and iOS versions, as well as its price: $4.99, which means it will cost around £4.99 in the UK.
Considering the move from PC and console, you would expect a number of changes. However, that doesn't look to be the case as Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition features the entire world of Liberty City. It's a straight-up port with touch controls overlayed, basically.
Grand Theft Auto games usually revolve around a common theme: becoming the head-honcho in a crime-riddled city. This is done by completing usually violent tasks such as bumping someone off or acting as a getaway driver. It's a series not known to hold back on the claret.
In the case of GTA III, you play as Claude, a tough guy who was unfortunately betrayed by his girlfriend during a bank heist. And so by working your way up the crime ladder, you can confront her.
Oddly, the Samsung Galaxy S2 isn't on the list of supported Android devices, as you can see below. Nor is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which boasts physical controls. Hopefully this will change before launch.

- HTC Rezound
- LG Optimus 2x
- Motorola Atrix 4G

We'll be putting the game through its paces to see whether GTA III can glue you to your screen as much as it did back when it was originally released in 2001.
