We review The Sims 3, EA's impressively complete mobile re-working of the PC lifestyle sim game
Published on Oct 12, 2009
Sims 3 is one of the most eagerly awaited games of this year across both PC and iPhone, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
The iPhone Sims 3 experience is almost as extensive as it is on PC, although some aspects have been canned to keep the file size small and the speed as fast as possible.
For starters, you can’t change your Sim as much as you can on the PC version, and the gameplay is a tad different too - you’ll have to wait while you move from your home, to the town, to friends’ houses rather than doing so seamlessly.
You’ll go through ups and downs with your Sim, including the hardships of finding a job, making friends and earning money. You’ll also have to satisfy your Sim’s wishes, such as kicking over a bin and making a friend jealous. Once all of these wishes are satisfied, you can unlock a new career and gain the option to buy a car.
Throughout the game, you’ll have the option of completing mini-games, such as fishing if you head to the pond. To complete any of these mini-games, you’ll need the equipment, and to buy the equipment, you’ll need money.
At the beginning, The Sims 3 feels a little slow to start, while you find a job to buy things, to be happy and meet people. After an hour’s gameplay, you’ll find that Sims is a truly satisfying experience.
