Add and change your Favourites on the LG Shine

Pressing the right-hand navigation key brings up your Favourites, a list of shortcuts to your frequently used tools and applications. By adding up to nine of your favourite functions to your Favourites - Alarm clock, Unit converter or your image gallery, for instance - you can save time by by-passing the menu system.

Accessing Favourites

To access your Favourites from Standby mode, simply press the right-hand navigation key (the small button to the right of the scroll bar). The Favourites page will open. To open a Favourite, either highlight an item using the scroll bar and press the scroll bar to open, or - and this is even quicker - simply press the number to the left of any item.

Adding a Favourite

To add a shortcut, highlight one of the items and click Add or press the corresponding number on the keypad. You'll see what looks like the Shine's main menu. Press the number to the left of the section containing your new favourite (eg press 3 for Multimedia/Voice recorder, or 7 for My stuff/Images).

When the submenu opens, highlight the item you want to add to Favourites using the scroll bad and press Set to see the item in your Favourites menu.

Editing a Favourite

You can change, delete or move existing Favourites. To edit Favourites, open the Favourites list by clicking the right-hand navigation key. Highlight an existing Favourite and click on Options. You'll see the following options:

• Open - opens the shortcut, just like clicking the scroll bar or pressing the Favourite's shortcut number
• Change - lets you assign a new Favourite to that slot, deleting the existing entry. To do this, click OK or press 2 and follow the same procedure as in Adding a Favourite, above
• Remove - Deletes the highlighted Favourite. Select Remove or press 3 and press 1 to confirm deletion or 2 to keep it
• Move to - Swaps the order of two Favourites. With a Favourite highlighted, select Move to or press 4 and you'll see the Favourites list. Now highlight the new position for the Favourite you want to move and press OK, or press the corresponding shortcut key on the keypad and the two Favourites will change places.
• Remove all - Deletes all your Favourites. You'll need to confirm deletion by pressing 1, in case you've selected this by mistake

Our favourite Favourites

Some Shine functions that we've dropped into our Favourites list:

• Connectivity (Settings - shortcuts 9 and 3) - Activate Bluetooth within a couple of clicks
• Alarm clock (Tools menu - shortcuts 8 and 1) - We wouldn't wake up without it
• Images (My stuff menu - shortcuts 7 and 1) - Rapid access to your camera photo gallery
• Video camera (Multimedia menu - shortcuts 3 and 3) - No access from the stills camera so add your own
• Bookmarks (Browser menu - shortcuts 2 and 2) - Makes saved web pages even easier to open
• Calculator (Tools menu - shortcuts 8 and 3) - A worthy addition to your Favourites
