Setting up Bluetooth on the LG Shine
Send and receive picture and music files for free using Bluetooth on your LG Shine
Bluetooth is a wireless system for connecting your mobile to a hands-free device, a speaker system, another mobile phone or a computer. When sending or receiving files you only need to activate Bluetooth and PC or mobile you're exchanging files with will locate your Shine.
For transmitting connections - hands-free sets and speakers, for instance - you have to “pair” your device and your phone. This involves putting both of them into pairing mode, and entering a passcode to allow the connection. While this sounds complicated, it is quite straightforward and makes sure that no-one else can connect to your phone using their own Bluetooth headset.
To use Bluetooth, you should first set up a unique name for your phone, then turn Bluetooth on (by default it is off, to save battery power).
Click the scroll wheel to open the main menu, and click 9 to open the Settings menu. Click 4 to open Connectivity and click 1 to open the Bluetooth menu.
Click 3 to open Bluetooth settings, and click 2 to open My name. By default this is 'LG Shine'. Using the keypad, enter a new, personalised name. This will help you identify which phone is yours when you want to connect to it. Click OK to confirm the new name - you'll see the 'Complete' message when it's changed.
To make your phone visible to other devices, click 1 to open My visibility. By default, a tick will be next to Hide. Press 1 to activate Show.
Finally, you need to switch Bluetooth on. Click Back to return to the Bluetooth menu, and click 1 to open Bluetooth on/off. Click 1 again to switch Bluetooth on. You'll see the confirmation message 'Complete'.
You are now ready to receive files via Bluetooth.
