Securing your LG Prada handset
Secure your LG Prada KE850 and your account by locking your phone and your SIM card
Losing a phone through accident or to a light-fingered thief is annoying, frustrating and potentially very costly, especially if the 'finder' uses your SIM card to make expensive calls. Help is at hand; you can lock both your phone and your SIM card with four-figure PIN numbers to prevent unauthorised use.
To activate a PIN code request and lock your SIM, open the main menu
- Then select the Settings menu select Settings (Figure 1)
- Scroll down to select Security (Figure 2)
- The first item in the security menu is Request PIN code select this (Figure 3)
- By default this will be set to off. To turn on select Enable and press OK
- You'll now be prompted to enter the four-digit PIN. When you've done this, click OK, and if the pin was correct, you'll see the confirmation message 'Complete' (Figure 4)
- To deactivate the PIN code request, you would simply select Disable from the menu
To lock your phone, and thus render it useless to a thief, you can activate Handset lock. To do this scroll down and select Handset Lock (Figure 5)
- You can then choose from locking your handset when – You switch on – when your SIM card is changed – Immediately
- Which ever you choose you will be prompted to enter a security code, when you have entered the code you will be sent a message letting you know the process is complete (Figure 6)
Other security options include an Auto Key Lock, this setting will lock your keys after a time limit set by you, anything from 10 to 60 seconds, meaning that you will be prevented from calling random contacts while your handset is loose and unlocked in your bag (Figure 7).
Call Barring allows you to prevent certain types of calls. You can stop the handset from calling international numbers, meaning that in the event of a theft, expensive calls cannot be made. You can also prevent incoming calls while roaming the Internet, All Outgoing calls, and All Incoming Calls (Figure 8).
All of these above security measures require security codes and it is essential that you make a note of all security codes set otherwise you could find yourself locked out!
