Getting to grips with the LG Prada's unique applications
The interesting collaboration between LG and Prada has also produced some exciting applications inside a very sexy phone
The LG Prada features a number of applications unique to the KE850 handset, everything from a Unit Converter, to a World C lock. You can get to grips with these interesting features by following the simple steps below.
To use these applications:
- From the stand-by menu select the Main Menu
- Select Tools from the menu on the right of the screen (Figure 1)
Then you can select the application you want to use, they are:
- Alarm clock
- Calculator
- World clock
- Unit converter
- Calendar
- Memo pad
The Alarm Clock (Figure 2), Calculator (Figure 3) and Calendar (Figure 4) functions are typical to the majority of modern mobile phones, the really interesting applications in the Tools menu are the latter ones.
The World Clock is an interactive and beautifully designed application perfectly suited to the LG Prada’s heat sensitive touch screen (Figure 5). On entering the application the user is presented with a globe, you are then able to spin the globe to access various parts of the world. When the globe has settled on the continent you wish to see, by pressing ok you will zoom in to view the various countries/cities/time zones related to that continent. To move around the screen and find somewhere in particular press the left and right icons on the screen, you can then find out the time by pressing ok, this will then be your World Clock default when you next use the application (Figure 6).
The Unit converter (Figure 7) is another useful tool with is you can convert the following:
- Currency
- Area
- Length
- Weight
- Temperature
- Volume
- Velocity
To convert any of the above all you need to do is click on the number bar of your chosen conversion, so, if you were converting yards to feet, just typing in the number of yards would automatically give you a calculation (Figure 8).
However, with regards to currency, the user has to manually enter the rate at which, for example, pounds are being converted to dollars (Figure 9), so 1:2. Then, on entering the number of domestic currency the conversion to foreign currency will automatically be calculated (Figure 10).
The Memo pad is useful and allows the user to type up notes, however due to the often cumbersome touch screen keypad, this will not always be the easiest and quickest options for those taking notes. Still for those with tiny hot fingers a welcome office application (Figure 11).
