O2 will stock Sony's Xperia Z from February in an exclusive purple colour
Stop the presses – O2 has revealed on its ‘coming soon’ page that it will stock the Sony Xperia Z flagship smartphone from February.
You’ll be able to get the phone in black but O2 also has an exclusive purple model if you’re after something a bit special.
It’s not available for pre-order just yet and you can only sign up to be kept ‘in the loop’.
The handset, which measures a mere 7.9mm thick, features a 5-inch LCD display with a 1920x1080 pixel HD resolution at 443 pixels-per-inch with Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and OptiContrast technology.
You also get dust and water resistance, Dragontrail ultra-durable glass on front and back and a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera.
Inside is a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor with 2GB of dual-channel RAM, 16GB of storage and microSD capability for cards.
All of this runs on Android 4.1 with an updated Sony UI.
There are currently no details about contracts and tariffs, or a precise release date.
IntoMobile also reports the network will be carrying Huawei’s Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 handset ‘later this quarter’.
It’ll be available in pink or blue and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz, a 4-inch WVGA resolution display, 1950mAH battery pack, 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of internal storage and microSD support.
