The 5-inch quad core HTC Deluxe may not be available in Europe after all

HTC’s rumoured 5-inch display-equipped Deluxe model might not be coming to Europe after all, if comments from a company spokesperson prove true.

Earlier reports suggested the HTC Deluxe would be the international version of the US-facing HTC DROID DNA, itself a re-designed version of the Japanese exclusive HTC J Butterfly.

All variations are believed to have a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and a 5-inch Super LCD3 FullHD 1080p display with a pixel density of around 440 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

Now a spokesperson from HTC’s German division has said on Facebook that the Deluxe specifically won’t release in Europe.

Representatives previously said that although the J Butterfly would remain a Japan exclusive the display tech and general spec of the device would make its way into international handsets in a different design.

It was generally assumed that the Deluxe was this model, but it’s possible that yet another design, or the same phone with a different name, will be hitting the European market.

In related news, the international version of HTC’s existing One X handset is now reportedly receiving an over-the-air update to Android Jelly Bean 4.1 in multiple regions, including the UK.

The new build is a 364.54MB download and ramps up performance and battery life, as well as adding in Jelly Bean’s new features such as Google Now, the smooth Butter UI and some nice interface tweaks.
