HTC announces September 19 event — Windows Phone 8 handsets suspected
HTC will be unveiling new products on September 19, which probably means Windows Phone 8 stuff
HTC has started sending out invites for an event on September 19 in New York, which many believe will see the company launching its range of Windows Phone 8 handsets.
Current rumour points to a range of three devices, the Zenith premium model, mid-range Accord and budget Rio, although more recent leaks have indicated these may be codenames.
The Accord is believed to be known as the HTC 8X and another of the three may be called the HTC 8S, suggesting the three models will follow the HTC One range’s naming convention but with the number ‘8’ in place of the ‘One’ brand.
Moving away from Windows Phone hardware entirely, there are a couple of other HTC products we’ve seen leaked recently which may be possible candidates.
The first is a mystery tablet with unusual proportions. This was leaked ahead of IFA 2012 and it was believed the company would unveil the device at the event in Berlin, but since then we’ve seen no further sign of it.
Another possibility is a recently leaked handset, believed to be running on Android, variously alleged to be either a 5-inch Galaxy Note imitator or a slightly smaller handset possibly called the HTC Endeavour or the HTC One X +, which, if real, would feature an upgraded 1.7GHz Tegra 3 quad core processor and more RAM.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on things and will bring you more as we hear it.
