Android 4.0 is now live in the UK for the HTC Sensation XL and it has been spotted running on Vodafone-branded handsets

HTC has begun rolling out Android 4.0 to some UK-based HTC Sensation XL handsets.

We’re hearing reports of Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) appearing on Vodafone devices in the UK and users running it as far a field as Pakistan and Lebanon.

The HTC Sensation XL is almost a year old now and was one of last year’s better Android-powered devices. What’s most important though is HTC’s commitment to updating its back catalogue of handsets with the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

Android 4.0 brings with it a whole host of new features that should translate into significantly improved performance, better power management and a vastly superior UI that’s much easier to navigate than the one found on Gingerbread.

We’ve reached out to HTC for more details regarding this update and will update the story as soon as we know more.
