O2 will update some of its HTC handsets to Android Ice Cream Sandwich in April 2012, Know Your Mobile has learned

Do you own an O2-branded HTC smartphone? Have you been wondering when it’ll get updated to Android 4.0? Well the wait is nearly over – O2 has confirmed that its Android 4.0 update will be arriving in April.

O2 neglected to disclose which handsets would be getting the Android 4.0 update, although we’d expect all 2011 and late-2010 devices to support the new operating system.

Whether O2 will offer Android 4.0 to all of its HTC handsets is not yet known. No doubt this aspect fo the process will become clearer as April gets closer.

No doubt HTC’s entire Sensation series of smartphones will be supported for the get go. We’d also expect to see updates for the Wildfire S, Desire S and the HTC Explorer – although anything older will probably be left out in the cold.

More news as we get it.
