Android Ice Cream Sandwich to hit HTC Sensation range

HTC has announced new 'Ice White' Sensation with Android Ice Cream Sandwich

HTC has confirmed that it will be releasing yet another Sensation-branded handset on March 1, 2012.

HTC has revealed it will be pushing Google's latest Android update, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 (ICS), to its Sensation range of smartphones.

This will include the original dual core 1.2GHz HTC Sensation, the dual core 1.5GHz HTC Sensation XE and the largest of the bunch, the single core 1.5GHz HTC Sensation XL.

The news comes via HTC's PR operations in the Netherlands and it has been confirmed the ICS rollout will land on existing Sensation handsets in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in ‘less than a month', according to Electricpig.

This could mean that the HTC Sensation ‘Ice White' will herald the arrival of the ICS update for the rest of Europe and the UK on that March 1 launch date.

Apart from the colour, the specs of the white HTC Sensation are reportedly exactly the same as its conventional grey cousin.

We reviewed the original HTC Sensation and found the performance slightly underwhelming and the display somewhat disappointing. The Sensation XE and Sensation XL, however, are much improved variants, particularly with regard to the screen clarity on the Sensation XL.

So, if you're thinking of getting an ICS-powered HTC Sensation phone it might be worth looking at either of those and waiting for the rollout instead of going for the new launch.

That said, HTC's implementation of ICS may go some way to improving the original model as the company appears to be getting better at platform and interface optimisiation with each new release.
