Google is set to introduce the Motorola X smartphone at Google I/O in May loaded with Android Key Lime Pie

Rumours claim that a device known as the Motorola X may well appear at Google I/O in May as the launch device for Android Key Lime Pie.

The handset is said to follow in the footsteps of the Motorola Razr i with an edge-to-edge display. However this time it’s substantially larger at 5-inches, suggesting it’ll follow the large 440ppi touchscreen trend with a stylish twist.

It’s likely we’ll see a few of the Razr i’s other features migrating to the new handset, including the Kevlar and aluminium body, long-life battery pack and water and dust resistant coatings.

Murmurs originating on Droid Forum reportedly suggest the Motorola X won’t be a Nexus branded device but will be the first handset openly embracing Google’s ownership of the manufacturer.

However, this information is said to come from an anonymous source which can’t be verified, according to Droid Forum:

‘Please take this rumour with a grain of salt, because we couldn't find any other info across the web to back it up; however, if it is just a fan-boy's imaginings, it seems very logical and well-developed.’
