Nexus 7 dock and covers on the way
Nexus 7 owners will soon have access to some shiny new toys to go with their tablet
A set of slides has leaked online showing Asus accessories for the Nexus 7.
A charging dock is on the way with a 3.5mm audio jack, a micro USB port, a price tag of $49.99 (£31) and a launch date of August 24.
Meanwhile, the Asus Travel Cover may have already hit the market for £19.99, with its brightly coloured thermoplastic polyurethane charms, but if you fancy something a bit…fancier, Asus is preparing a ‘Premium’ cover for the end of August.
The Premium cover has a glass fibre ‘bumper’ layer on the inside to protect your Nexus 7 from knocks, while the outside is real leather in either red, brown, white or orange (or perhaps more of a tan colour?).
It’ll set you back a bit more than the Travel cover though at $39.99 (£25). As usual with this sort of thing, we expect the prices to translate directly into UK pounds.
‘The Nexus 7 is one of the best tablets we've tested to date - both in terms of price and user experience. Android, thanks to some hard work from Asus and Google, now has a viable tablet option and one that should persuade many people over from Apple's clutches.
The inclusion of the Nvidia's Tegra 3 ensures you're getting bleeding-edge processing power on a device that is cheaper than a smartphone. So while storage is quite limited and there's no 3G-connectivity, it's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.
The Nexus 7 is brilliant for gaming, browsing, email, and as a replacement for your Kindle. And at just £160 for the 8GB version it's also one of the most affordable tablets on the market, particularly when compared with Apple's iPad 3 and Samsung's Galaxy Note 7.7.
If you're not bothered about 3G, having lots of internal storage and can live without a rear-facing camera, we cannot recommend the Google Nexus 7 highly enough. Devices this good don't come around very often, or at this price.’
