Nexus 4 in stock at Carphone Warehouse and available SIM-free for £390

UK punters can get Google’s Nexus 4 SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse for £390 —— £151 more than it costs direct from Google

The Nexus 4 is currently out of stock on Google’s Play store, although that’s not surprising given the device costs just £239 direct from the search giant.

The handset is now available SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse for £390, however.

That’s £151 dearer than it is direct from Google. But with Google’s stock levels depleted, perhaps for as long as three weeks, many desperate consumers may take Carphone Warehouse’s inflated cost in the chin in order to get hold of Google’s latest Nexus.

Google has priced the Nexus 4 very aggressively, perhaps even too low to make a return on it. Retailers do not have the same luxury as Google, however, and will need to increase the price of the handset in order to recoup their costs.

Pound for pound the Nexus 4 is stupidly under-priced – it’s got a 4.8-inch 720p display, a quad-core S4 Pro processor, an excellent camera, tons of cool features, and it runs Android 4.2. It’s basically a high-end smartphone priced like a mid-range budget device.
