Nexus 4 priced at £760 on eBay
Nexus 4 handsets are selling on eBay for way over their RRP as consumers clamour to get their hands on Google’s newly released handset
Google’s Nexus 4 handset, which sold out in 30 minutes here in the UK, is selling for as much as £760 on eBay.
Released on Tuesday and priced at just £239 for the 8GB variant, Google’s Nexus 4 is aggressively priced and specced to the hilt, featuring Qualcomm’s S4 Snapdragon Pro chipset, Android 4.2, and a 720p HD IPS display.
Both the 8GB and 16GB variants of the Nexus 4 are now listed as ‘sold out’ on Google’s UK Play store. Google advises consumers that it is currently ‘out of inventory’ and to ‘check back soon.’
Analyst Francisco Jeronimo told Know Your Mobile, 'At this price point Google is clearly addressing the mid market, which is key for the future growth. Whether or not they are making money I can't tell, but I guess Google's strategy is not to make huge profits from this phone.'
LG offered the device to Spanish retailers for $599 Euros (£480), putting its worth a lot higher than the £239 Google is charging for the dvice, meaning the manufacturer is surely losing out on around £240 on each unit it sells.
Google now has an entire suite of mobile devices comprised of the Nexus 7, the Nexus 4, and the Nexus 10. Asus built the Nexus 7, Samsung the Nexus 10, and LG the Nexus 4.
We recently reviewed the excellent Nexus 10 recently, which you can read about here. Be sure to check out Basil’s video review also.
Our Nexus 4 first-look will also be going live later today, so stick around for that one.
