Second batch of Nexus 4s shipping from Google Play
More Nexus 4 handsets are shipping out of Google to meet demand, but you can only buy a maximum of two
Google’s Nexus 4 handset sold out in 30 minutes flat when it launched on Google Play in early November, thanks to its low price and high-end spec.
Google has since had problems meeting the demand and confirmed that it was surprised and overwhelmed by the popularity of its new flagship.
Some speculation suggested new stock might not be ready to ship until December, but the company has now said in notifications to customers that a second batch of phones is shipping to out this week with more expected to follow in the run-up to Christmas.
The surge in demand even prompted some buyers to sell the £239 handset on eBay for an inflated price of £760. It’s quite possible this may have come from buyers purchasing multiple handsets at once.
According to Phandroid’s Chris Chavez, who bought two handsets at launch, it appears that two per customer is Google’s limit as anyone who already has a pair of Nexuses can no longer buy the device from the company’s web shop. However, it should be noted that, for now at least, it looks as though you can buy two of each variant (8GB or 16GB).
