Google Nexus 7 UK deliveries delayed
Nexus 7 deliveries are delayed because Google gave 'incorrect addresses' to couriers
Reports indicate UK deliveries of the Nexus 7 tablet are being delayed thanks to incomplete addresses being given to couriers.
One of our sister sites, Expert Reviews, found that despite being notified by email that a Nexus 7 was on the way to the correct address, a second email explained that the shipment delivery address was ‘unknown’ and that ‘recovery actions’ were underway.
A quick phone call to TNT revealed that Google is ‘providing incorrect addresses’ for Nexus 7 orders with the delivery company being left in the dark on where to take its hotly-anticipated cargo to. Apparently there have been a lot of disgruntled people phoning TNT with the very same problem.
TNT explained that without correct delivery addresses this is Google’s problem and pointed to the Google Play helpline, a US-based call centre which, as you can imagine is currently under a bit of strain.
As Expert Reviews’ David Ludlow described the situation: ‘If you're wondering where your delivery is and are thinking about calling this number, we say good luck. Call demand is currently very high and it took a long time to get through to a human. On our first attempt, we were on hold for 40 minutes.’ Ouch.
Worse still, speaking to a representative yields very little in terms of helpful advice: ‘I can't change the address, the device is held in a substation. I suggest you take government ID a collect it in person,’ said one.
Google should, by now, be well aware of the problem as it has been escalated ‘to say that TNT is receiving incomplete details.’
This all goes some way to explaining why we still haven’t seen our own Nexus 7 arriving yet. It’s pretty embarrassing for Google to say the least.
We’ll bring you more on this as we hear it.
