Rovio's next game will be Bad Piggies and arrives this month

Rovio has released a teaser trailer for its rumoured green pig-based title set in the Angry Birds universe.

The new game will be called Bad Piggies and the video, entitles ‘Something Pig is Coming’ shows the iconic red Angry Bird being assailed by flying green porkers.

Simultaneously, the company took to its Angry Birds Twitter account to announce the planned launch with a date of September 27.

Previous rumours suggested the new title would put you in the role of the pigs, though there were several theories on the setting and how the gameplay would pan out.

Some suggested it would be a base building game in which you would defend yourself against the incoming birds, while others said the pigs had made a catapault to launch a counter-attack.

The truth is very different, news site Fast Company managed to get hands-on with the game and revealed the following:

‘The swine are stranded on a desert island and have to build vehicles and contraptions to make their way to the delicious eggs that they can’t seem to get enough of. Though there is a three-star mechanic at work, there are no birds in sight, and the pigs are bouncy, jovial, and downright likable--a far cry from the snorting, antagonizing characters from the Angry Birds instalments.’

That description would suggest it has more in common with Rovio’s other construction-centric title ‘Amazing Alex’ than with the bird-based game which propelled the company to stardom.
