Sony Ericsson unveils high-end C902i, C702i Cyber-shots

Sony Ericsson has boosted its Cyber-shot phone range with two high-end devices - the GPS-enabled C702i and 5-megapixel camera equipped C902i

Mobile World Congress logo Sony Ericsson has added more snap to its Cyber-shot cameraphone range with two high-end candybar models - the C702i, a 3.2-megapixel camera-equipped mobile featuring built in GPS and dust- and splash-resistant casing, and the C902i, a 5-megapixel camera packing handset.

Both C-series Cyber-shot phones major on high-end mobile photography, and feature 3G HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity. Autofocus with face detection camera technology is included in both models, and each has a digital camera-style user interface, camera handling-optimised design and features, including extensive settings controls and post-shooting editing facilities. They each have 160MB of internal memory, plus M2 card expansion.

The C702i's integrated GPS receiver can be used for turn-by-turn navigation and location finding, using Google Maps for Mobile software, and can also add location-specific information to images as they're taken, which you can share with others. Users can upload images to blogs straight from the handset too.

The C702i is the first toughened-up Cyber-shot phone, with its dust and splash-resistant casing and GPS functionality designed to appeal to active outdoors types.

The C902i is a slimline model - 10.5mm thin - featuring a slide-out lens cover protecting its 5-megapixel camera lens. It features image stabiliser functionality, plus photo flash technology.

Other functionality on the two new Cyber-shot models is similar. Both models feature full 3G video download, streaming and video call options, and are equipped with music players and FM radios, plus Sony Ericsson's TrackID and PlayNow software. Full web browsers with RSS feed support and regular features, such as email and stereo Bluetooth, are included too.

The C702i will be released in Speed Black or Cyan Blue, while the C902i will be available in Swift Black or Luscious Red when they appear in the second quarter of 2008.
