Orange's Sound Charge T-shirt allows Glastonbury festivallers to charge their phone while partying.
The T-shirt features turns vibrations from music into power to charge a device.
Apparently, the T-shirt will keep you juiced up for the whole weekend, providing you only need to charge your smartphone once, or opt for a more festival-friendly feature phone.
Orange says in its press release, 'with sound levels of around 80dB (roughly the same as a busy street), the Orange Sound Charge will generate up to 6 watt hours (W/h) of power over the course of the weekend – enough to charge two standard mobile phones or one Smartphone.'
sounds like it's time to dust off your festival phone then.
So how does the Sound Charge work exactly?
The T-shirt is woven with Piezoelectric film, that 'works as an oversized microphone'. It absorbs the soundwaves which are then converted into an electric charge using interlaced quartx crystals.
This power is then transferred to a battery which in turn is plugged into your phone for charging.
Orange will also be conducting a test at Glastonbury to find out which band is the best for producing power.
