A Windows Phone 7 update is strongly expected to be landing on February 7, according to reports.
Nothing has yet been confirmed by Microsoft but there are a lot of reports flying around the ol’ tinternet that the long awaited Windows Phone 7 update will be coming on February 7.
Here’s Pocket-Lint’s take on the speculation:
“The date is based on reports from "a number of French sites", according to Winrumours - although the date seems a week out to us - surely it is more likely for Microsoft to drop the codenamed NoDo update when Steve Ballmer hits Barcelona for MWC?”
We’re not sure either – it does seem odd to do it a week earlier. Especially since Microsoft is doing a keynote at MWC 2011.
Either way, the update will bring with it copy-and-paste, speed optimisations and some power tweaks as well.
In short, it’s going to be quite an update.
Unfortunately, there’s still no mention of multitasking – although, Microsoft could be saving this for its keynote.
Nevertheless, Windows Phone 7 will eventually need multitasking if Microsoft wants to compete with the likes of Apple, Nokia, BlackBerry and Android.
Updates will appear on your Windows Phone 7’s display as soon as it goes live – so keep your eyes peeled for that.
