Samsung has shown off its latest Symbian smartphone, the L870, at the S60 Summit in Barcelona.
The L870 is a sliderphone with HSDPA high-speed 3G connectivity, capable of download speeds of up to 3.6Mbps. It's kitted out with a 3-megapixel main camera plus a secondary video call camera above its display.
Powered by the Symbian v9.3 and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 smartphone platform, the L870 is capable of extensive application customisation, and there's a WebKit S60 browser onboard for high-speed full web browsing action.
The screen is a large 2.4-inch, 16-million colour QVGA display, and is built into a full stainless steel casing, with a pocketably-slim 13.5mm profile and 103.5(h) x 50.5(w) mm bodywork.
The L870's spec includes a multi-format music player and video player, plus an FM radio, with 100MB of internal memory and MicroSD memory card expansion up to 4GB. It has push email support for leading corporate email solutions including Visto Seven, and Intellisync, plus QuickOffice document viewer software for attachments. Extensive personal information management and organiser software is pre-installed too.
The Samsung L870 is expected to go on sale in Europe around August 2008. Prices and network operator availability have yet to be confirmed.
