Screenshots of Palm's WebOS 2.0 SDK have emerged on the Chinese site Wibozi.com showing the new firmware and refined features such as Stacks, VPN support, HTML5 enhancements, Dropbox and Google Docs integration, support for multiple IM accounts and a whole lot more to boot – including an improved spellcheck, hooray!
While WebOS has always shown promise, the screens combined with the upcoming feature list demonstrate that the OS is maturing well.
That said, it's still being held back by the pedestrian hardware it debuted with. But the big question still remains: when will we see this OS in a shiny new device?
The release has certainly been a firm indicator of where HP/Palm are heading with the platform, we certainly hope they continue to develop the software side.
Nevertheless, we can't help but feel that this will all be in vain unless they expand their hardware range – bringing it in line with the market leaders.
Head over to Wibozi to check out all 24 of the leaked pics.
