Vodafone is preparing for the release of four Android 2.1 smartphones, which will be available in the UK next month.
Vodafone will be releasing the Nexus One, the HTC Legend and the HTC Desire – all of which will run on Android 2.1.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia will initially run on Android 1.6, but there are rumours it will be upgradeable to 2.1.
The HTC Desire, which is definitely one to look out for in 2010, features a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a five megapixel camera, and a whooping 1GHz processor.
Another HTC powerhouse release is the HTC Legend which picks up from where last year’s HTC Hero left off. The Legend features a 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 600MHz processor, an optical trackpad, and a five megapixel camera.
Specs wise, the Nexus One is remarkably similar to the HTC Desire – both have 1GHz processors, AMOLED touchscreens and Android 2.1. The main difference between the two handsets is that Google’s Nexus One doesn’t have HTC’s Sense UI.
All four smartphones will be available next month on Vodafone and while no tariffs have yet to be confirmed, it’s a safe bet to assume that customers will be able to pick up the handsets for around £35 a month on a two year contract.
