Vodafone looks to be dropping the Storm 2 in favour of other RIM handsets

The BlackBerry Storm2 has reportedly been dropped by Vodafone in the UK.

The touchscreen successor to the original Storm, the Storm2 was apparently only offered for sale by Vodafone for a little over two weeks, but it seems that this was long enough to decide not to stock it any further.

Tech website Bang Bang Tech received a tip-off from an affiliate scheme it's involved in, citing software and battery issues as the main reasons it has been withdrawn.

There hasn't been official confirmation of the removal from Vodafone but the device has been removed from the website, well, the page is still present, but there's no way to actually add it to the basket. It's also not available to purchase over the phone, so official or not, it seems to at least have been canned for now.

According to the rumours the Storm2 hadn't been performing particularly well since launch in any sense.

Low sales figures and reports of high-return volumes have been cited as primary causes for Vodafone's decision to drop the handset.
