LG has revealed its Secret - the latest premium phone in LG's stylish Black Label Series and follow up to the successful Chocolate and Shine.
The LG Secret (or LG KF750) is a slim sliderphone that features a 5-megapixel camera and high speed 3G HSDPA technology, as well as a selection of touch-screen controls and motion sensor technology onboard.
The 11.8mm thin LG Secret's cover and screen are made from highly durable carbon fibre and tempered glass, and are designed to be scratch resistant as well as good looking.
The display is a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen, although touch operation is used for a limited selection of five multimedia features (LG calls it Touch Media). These include music player, photo viewer, motion-controlled games, document viewer and FM radio functions. Other controls and most navigation is based around a touch sensitive control pad beneath the display. This Neon Touch Navigation provides haptic feedback (small vibrations) and glows in a rippling blue effect when the keys are touched.
An accelerometer motion sensor is built into the LG Secret, which automatically changes the view onscreen between portrait and landscape as you tilt and rotate the phone. LG utilises the accelerometer technology in the phone too for a selection of motion-operated games.
The LG Secret is the slimmest 5-megapixel cameraphone around, and features many of the facilities employed in the LG KU990 Viewty, including autofocus, face-tracking and a flash. High quality video recording is another key feature, with 120 frames per second video capture and DivX certified recording and playback. Users can also use super slow motion and video editing in the phone.
A secondary front camera can be used for 3G video calling, while HSDPA connectivity (at up to 3.6Mbps) allows full web browsing, high speed downloads and streaming of music and video. LG has also loaded up the Secret with a Google Package, supporting a number of web-based applications, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and Blogger.
The display of the LG Secret has auto luminance control to optimise the screen visibility according to lighting conditions, and offers Bluetooth connectivity including Bluetooth Auto-sync with PCs. MicroSD card memory expansion is supported for cards up to 4GB, while the Secret has 100MB of internal storage. USB mass storage support is also in the spec list.
Despite the toughened materials used on the Secret's bodywork, the phone feels light in the hand for its size, weighing 116g and measuring 102.8(h) x 50.8(w) x 11.8 (d)mm. LG claims the Secret will deliver up to 260 hours of standby time or up to 229 minutes of talktime between charges.
The LG Secret will go on sale in the UK in May. Prices have still to be confirmed, although LG has indicated that Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Orange have already agreed to carry the handset in the UK.
