Nokia launching only one Maemo device in 2010

Nokia will continue using Symbian for the majority of its new devices, with only one handset launching with the Maemo OS in 2010.

The news will come as a blow to excitable mobile junkies that were looking forward to a slew of Maemo-based devices, but according to an unnamed source in report over at Reuters, there's only one new Maemo handset to look forward to in the coming year.

The report cites analyst Neil Mawson from Strategy Analytics who argues that this need not be a bad move on Nokia's part, “Launching just one Maemo model in the whole of 2010 need not be a problem if Nokia can develop an iPhone killer with standout design and superior usability”.
