Dell Mini 3
One of Dell's handsets launching on China Mobile before the year is out

A range of smartphones from Dell known collectively as the Mini 3, has been announced for China Mobile and Brazilian-based provider Claro.

The company says that full details of the handsets will be given 'when devices are available in stores', which doesn't give us a lot to go on.

Dell did say that the range will be based around the Google Android OS and that the move is 'a logical extension of Dell’s consumer product evolution over the past two years', presumably since it was the first to embed 3G connectivity in netbooks.

The China Mobile version will ship with the company's own OPhone OS, that provides an in-house customised UI sat atop a largely Android OS.

We've reported on a couple of devices already bearing the Dell logo, but there's seemingly no inclination to spill the full details for the people in charge.

From what we've seen so far, the 5-inch WVGA equipped Streak looks to be the most exciting of the bunch, toting a 5-megapixel dual-LED flash camera, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/3G connectivity.

It's been confirmed that the Streak will launch in the US, but there seems to be a question mark over which operating system the handset will come to market with.

With a seeming unwillingness to give any more details right now, we're just going to have to sit tight to wait and see what Dell has in store for its European smartphone début.
