The Palm Pixi’s release date has been revealed as November 16. It’ll be hitting US carrier Sprint on that date, but – just like the Palm Pre – we’ll probably still be waiting a while for the device to surface over here.
The Palm Pixi is a cheaper, slightly cut-down version of the Palm Pre, which was the first device to use Palm’s new WebOS smartphone operating system.
Style-wise, the Pixi’s close relation to the Pre is obvious, but it ditches the sliding mechanism in favour of keeping the mini-Qwerty keyboard out on show at all times.
While this might be seen to give the phone a more serious, less sleek look, coloured back covers will be available for the Pixi to let you breathe a little fun into the device.
Other notably low-end points to the Pixi include the 2-megapixel camera and lack of Wi-Fi. Thankfully, it keeps the capacitive touchscreen, which made the original Pre such a smooth operator.
