Andrew Williams

Palm's WebOS platform has been updated to support a handful of simple but neat features that were missing from the previous release

Published on Oct 1, 2009

Palm has released an important update for its WebOS mobile operating system, as used in the Palm Pre, due to hit the shelves in a couple of weeks.

This 1.2 update adds numerous functionality upgrades and tweaks. It’s an over-the-air update, so can be grabbed directly from the device. Here’s a rundown of the improvements:

  • Dialling directly from numbers in calendar notes
  • Resume function for podcasts
  • Cut and paste for web pages and emails
  • Email filtering by search terms
  • In-browser file downloads
  • LinkedIn information added to contacts

Over at the Palm blog, feedback from Palm users is being constantly encouraged, so if you’re planning on getting your hands on a Pre from O2 when it’s released later this month, making yourself heard could reap rewards.

You’ll be able to get hold of a Pre both online and in-store from O2 from the 16th. Check out the O2 site for more details on pricing.
