Windows XP phone detailed

It may not be from one of the main mobile manufacturers, but the Windows XP xpPhone is an interesting mobile solution nevertheless

Chinese manufacturer In Technology has released more details about its xpPhone, a netbook-mobile hybrid that’s sure to turn a few heads.
It’s got a huge 4.8-inch touchscreen, using the familiar 800x480 pixel resolution, and a set of tech specs that sounds more like those of a budget laptop than a mobile phone.
There’s set to be a range of models on offer, but the top one will have 1GB RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and a 12-hour battery. Unfortunately, the camera is similarly netbook-esque, with a 1.3-megapixel snapper on the back and a 300K front-facing one, presumably for video calls.
As the name suggests, the xpPhone will run Windows XP, which might even be vaguely usable thanks to the large touchscreen. However, there are no signs of the device actually making it to these shores as yet – and even if it does, we highly doubt it’ll ever make it onto the shelves of your local Carphone Warehouse.
Still, as a proof of concept, the xpPhone is an intriguing design.
