Motorola has announced the launch of the Dext - its first handset to feature the new Motoblur UI

Motorola has named its debut Android device as the Dext, featuring a new social networking focused interface known as Motoblur.
The Dext is known as the Cliq in the US, and will arrive in the UK as an Orange exclusive, sometime before Christmas.
The Dext throws a 5-megapixel camera, 3.1-inch HVGA (320x480 pixel) touchscreen display, and a landscape sliding Qwerty keypad into the mix.
OS-wise the handset runs Google's Android OS version 1.5, so expect the usual complement of Google goodies, like mapping, chat, mail and calendar.
Motorola has chosen to tweak the Android powerhouse and add its own custom UI to the Dext, but it goes further than graphical upgrades.
The new Motoblur UI is focused on providing quick integrated access to a multitude of different social networking services, as well as allowing you to customise your Dext's home screen.
Motoblur actually sounds pretty nifty, providing one-app syncing of contacts and connected social networks; it will also update a user's “social status” across all compatible sites from just one screen.
Photo sharing is innately supported across MySpace, Facebook, Picasa and Photobucket, whereas IM support is a MySpace, Facebook and Twitter affair.
