Nokia has announced the X3 and X6; phones poles apart in price terms, but both have decent musical credentials

Published on Sep 2, 2009

Nokia has just unveiled two new handsets in its new X series, designed as an offshoot to the popular Xpressmusic series of phones. With the named X3 and X6, they may sound like very closely related siblings, but they’re actually got very different buyers in mind.

The X3 is an entry-level phone set to be available to buy at around the £100 mark. It’s a slider device with a 2.2-inch screen and reasonable musical credentials thanks to its FM radio and SHDC-compatible microSD slot, with official compatibility clocked up to 8GB. It’s also the first Series 40 OS phone to be compatible with Nokia’s Ovi applications store.

The X6 is a rather different proposition, and will cost you four times as much as the X3 at an estimated £400. It’s a touchscreen device with a 3.2-inch display and a hefty amount of storage for all your music. It’s got 32GB built-in as standard, but then there’s also a microSD slot to sent your storage levels even further skywards.

The X6’s screen uses a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning that it should be just as pleasant a partner for your movies and videos as your music.

The X6 also comes with the Comes With Music service, which gives you unlimited access to the Nokia Music Store.

I do like the look of these, they remind me of the Cybershot so I guess this is a cheaper version. mobile cybershot
