T-Mobile G1 can’t get OS update

The T-Mobile G1 may not be able to get the planned future HTC Sense OS update due to flash memory issues

Yesterday, we reported that HTC is planning to make the Sense OS update available for previous Android handsets, the G1 and Magic, but it looks like the T-Mobile G1 may not be able to hack it.
PC Advisor has reported that the T-Mobile G1 doesn’t have enough spare internal flash memory to assimilate further major updates. Of course, G1 users were treated to a fairly substantial update with Cupcake earlier this year, but Sense adds all-new functionality to the Android OS that could prove more of a strain on the device.
T-Mobile denies the rumours that the G1’s lack of free flash memory will put an end to updates saying, “we plan to continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate” – as PC Advisor reported. However, just because T-Mobile’s working on the G1, it doesn’t mean that it’ll be able to get Sense up and working on the device.
Perhaps this is why HTC only revealed concrete plans to bring HTC Sense to the Magic in its recent press release on the update.
