INQ Chat and Mini announced

INQ has announced two new social networking focused mobiles called the Chat and the Mini that will support iTunes syncing

Published on Aug 4, 2009

The Chat and the Mini have been announced by Hutchison Whampoa-owned INQ.

From the company that made its mark with the INQ1, AKA the Facebook phone, the new handsets' focus remains resolutely on social networking, with support for Facebook, Skype and Twitter as well as a variety of IM programs, straight from the box.

The Chat takes a Blackberry-esque form, complete with full-Qwerty for multitudinous messaging tasks whilst the Mini takes on a traditional candybar shape.

Spec-wise the Mini will feature a 2-megapixel snapper, while the Chat will get a more generous 3.2-megapixels. Both will offer 3G connectivity, tethering capability and support for microSD cards up to 8GB.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about both of these handsets is that they will ship ready to sync with iTunes thanks to the Doubletwist application.

This software allows a whole range of devices to play-nicely with iTunes, and the fact that it is third-party means that blocking it would be far more difficult for Apple.

Pricing and availability is yet to be revealed but given the parentage, the safe money is on 3 for a launch exclusive.
