T-Mobile UK starts selling iPhones

T-Mobile UK is offering iPhone 3G phones, but only if you spend a lot of money with them and make a fuss

T-Mobile UK has started flogging 3G iPhones, even though O2 UK still officially holds the exclusive on the last generation device.
However, you can’t just head on down to the T-Mobile website and buy yourself one, they’re only being offered to customers paying £75 a month or more who threaten to leave the carrier, The Register reports.
So, how has T-Mobile got around O2’s exclusive? Apparently, it’s imported a number of iPhone 3G devices, and has got 150 a week to roll out to the highest paying, most vehemently complaining customers. Of course, if you’re spending that much a month and are that bothered about jumping on the Apple bandwagon, you could get your hands on a new 3G S rather than the now positively old fashioned 3G – if you moved to O2, that is.
We’ll have to see how this pans out, but we can’t imagine O2 or Apple will be too happy about T-Mobile messing with exclusivity deals, even if it is only to a few handfuls of customers.
